Are free screen savers safe?

Thought I'd like to have a Thanksgiving-themed wallpaper and wondered: Are the freebies safe? Thanks>

 

From my experience and that of some others I know the answer is usually NO..........Free Joke sites, Screen Saver sites and the like are usually the come ons that a lot of Malware spewers us to con the public.........That been said if you know and trust a site like Major Geeks for example you can get some great Screen Savers, just be careful and always scan the downloaded file with your anti-virus........And sorry I do not know of a good Safe Thanksgiving Screen Saver, but others here might
