Are Sata drive @#$%^ or is it

Are Sata drive @#$%^ ?

Or is it just me.

O.k just alittle of topic per say gripe here...along with all the wonders of the modern computing age there are also seemingly issues where newer is not always better.??

I have seen the Sata drives been introduced and yet they seem to FALL OVER at ridicuosly regular intervals or fail out right.

Our server had a raid rebuild because one of these new fandangled things had an issue the units not even 8 months old, it really isnt that heavily taxed as far as HDD access goes and not only that I hear of other friends sata drive failures...its a trade off between an easy let the raid array rebuild itself vs a good backup and a (imo) a more reliable IDE drive...o.k they may be faster or able to do raid rebuilds if you have multiple drives etc... but apart from that...

Whats your opionion?:confused

 

There are NO reliability differences between SATA and IDE. The mechanical component of the drive is exactly the same, it is just how the data is transmitted that is different. SATA drives are faster than IDE, and the only way I can think of of them being less reliable than IDE is if you buy rubbish SATA drives.

What make/model SATA drives are in the RAID array?
