ok i've been asking a load of questions on what is better in areas of proccesser, graphics cards and everything. I don't tend to get a straight answer on what is good. probably a misunderstanding in which it comes off like i'm getting a new part to install in my computer.
This is not the case. I am trying to figure out a good configuration so i can buy a computer with what i need striaght out of the box at a good price and i don't have to deal with a hundred different support lines if something goes wrong. (Cause no company wants to take responsability for the product going bad. who would.)

So a friend of mine told me he knows a little retailer that can give me a good price on a computer. HE also gave me a list of specs that I was wouldering about.

simple question: Are these Specs Good?
    Intel core 2 duo E6400 2.13GHz 2MB cache 1066MHz FSB
    1GB DDR2 Performance SDRAM at 800MHz - 2 x 512MB
    250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200RPM w/8MB cache
    16x Dual Layer DVD+ R/W Drive
    512MB NVIDIA GeForce 7900GTX
    High Performance 7.1 Audio.

I talked with the guy at the store and we worked out a price I can afford so the only question is whether it is good. So if i wanted to play games on my computer would this configuration be good?

Oh hellz yeah! That's an awesome machine! Well, MOST of an awesome machine...you didn't say anything about motherboard and power supply.

Also, I would ask this retailer for a part by part pricing scheme, and compare them to those offered by TigerDirect.com, and newegg.com. I'm skeptical whether he can beat their prices. (If he does, hook me up, buddy!)

That will be a nice gaming rig. Definately go with two gigs of ram, It's a big performance booster in games like fear and BF2. :)

I just got word on the power supply. the guy said it was 650 watts.
not quite sure if that is any good.

Wow! 650W is a BEEFY PSU! You should ask whether it is SLI-certified, and whether it has dual 12V rails....

    SHWING!
    :D

That's a very nice setup! Only thing I would consider would be going with a Raid setup for hard drives.

really?! wow. i'm still checking on a few things. My Friend, its his uncle that is building it, said something about SLI certification but I can't remember him saying anything regarding rails.
What are those? is it something i should look into?

These are only really important in an SLI configuration. Its to ensure that your PSU can actually make use of all its wattage in a dual video card setup, and can deliver the appropriate voltage to each of the cards. If you want to keep SLI as an option, I would spend the little extra time now to make sure that you won't have headaches down the road. Chances are though, you have nothing to worry about.
