Both come with no monitors, which isn't a problem with me, if i decide to buy one the site is http://www.tigerdirect.com does anybody out there know if these are good deals or would be worth it?. I'm not too sure about eMachines but its pretty cheap for its specs (i think).

Firstly what currency (US or AUS, Tigerdirect)?

Secondly what are your purposes? Gaming, office, surfing or home?

Finally what sort of after sales warranty do you get?

Frankly I think you could build similar systems in the US for those prices and have all the individual parts warranties (1-5 years). Personally I would'nt unless you are good at dealing with tech staff and or resolving potential issues yourself. The big issue should be the after sales warranty because things can and do go rapidly pear shape even with new components even more likely with reco systems.

My purposes would be gaming and surfing mainly. I have a friend with a similer computer who plays city of heroes/villans (the game i am going to get). Its USD (us dollars) also, where would i be able to get the components to build a computer?. I've looked around and tried the "customize you'r own computer" deals, but they typically end up at around $700 (yes i know its not the same as building you'r own computer).

So how would i go around getting the parts, installing them and building my own computer for around that cost?. I read that tigerdirect has been around for a while and the "product reviews" said it was a good computer (yes i know it can be someone who works there). Also, either would be a major upgrade over what i have now, which is a compaq with windows ME and 256mb (yes i know its horrible T_T).

Edit: Theres also an extended warrenty i could buy, although it might be a problem getting new parts for it if it breaks or an entirely diffrent computer. It also comes with a 3 month warrenty

Okay lets get to the point. If you think about it when a PC Co. is offering refurbished PC's that means they have obtained a large amount for them to bother advertising about it. This normally means local, state or fedral govt. This also means that they are fuctional administrative machines at best. Both you point out have onboard graphics and thus will be crap for any reasonable gaming performance (even 2003 games!!!). You also state they only come with 3 month warranty. In a nutshell you are talking about surfing and assignment writing machines that may play 2001 games but will stutter and freeze during load sessions.

Ideally gaming machines should have dedicated graphics cards (add on) and of a reasonable standard.

Give me some time over the w/e and I will see what I can muster for you. Imho I would'nt buy seconhand govt crap. They were prob the PC you used at highschool!

Hmm, well how would i go about building my own computer for around the same cost with similler specs?. My friend has a similler computer but its Hp Pavillion and is 2.2ghz and an amd athlon processor and is playing the game i plan on getting when i get a good computer without any lagg. If its going to lagg constantly on games, then that would be one major downside. If you could me with finding a better computer for similler price or how i can build my own (hopefully not too complicated) computer.
