If it turns out to not be legal, then does it mess up my pc? :)

I would like to know, but I dont want to chance it if its going to shut me down.

    Hi Joe :)
You sound a little concerned? It is important to be running a legal copy of windows in so much you are assured of what you have paid for and the reliability of the operating system. It is impossible for forum members to fix a non standard xp installation. Should you run the scan with an illegal copy of windows the chances are yes your computer will fail and in order to be reactivated you will have to call a special Microsoft number to explain why and where you have received the pirated copy

    Regards
