Area 51 Event

Although this was said to of been a joke it has some not to bright people taking this seriously and saying they actually plan on showing up to storm Area 51. Event planned for September 20, 2019 at Area 51. Civilians can not just walk onto a US Air Force Base much less storm it . This will not end well if followed through.

The Lounge has been fairly quiet as of late. There use to be alot more people who dropped into the Lounge to precipitate in discussions or share a interesting or humorous story. The times are changing!

Possibly not as silly as it sounds katkat.......brilliant business marketing by the owners of the Little A’le’Inn perhaps?

 

Incidentally I heard from someone that their family member who is a US Marine is being sent for special training then will be sent to Area 51 soon. Coincident? Precaution? Who knows?

 

I read the guy who initially put the plan out there is now worried the FBI will be knocking on his door. Maybe they already have.
No I would not want to test the security of a US Military Base. It won't go well for anyone who tries.
I do find it interesting a Air Force Testing Base will have Marines coming. I don't know much about military things so that may be standard procedure.
I think some people and the media will show up to watch and see if what happens.

 

I've been in some Secure Facilities both as a military member and as a civilian contractor. There is armed security forces outside the secure zone awaiting an issue and also arms inside the secure zone in case of penetration attempts.

I've seen times when even a cleared member used an improper alarm clear code or other snafu and the security response team shows up with arms (rifles or pistols or both) already drawn as they exit the vehicles. Their first instruction is 'Get away from, the building ( or whatever object is being protected )! And they are required to be able to respond in a certain time period depending on the level of property being protected. .. Believe me...they're quick!

I've been drawn on even when in uniform because during a violation every thing and everybody is suspect until the situation is under control.
Best thing to do is put hands up and either stand still or walk away as directed.

I hope nobody is really taking this as a serious attempt. It could be ugly. The one starting this mob is very irresponsible especially when it may come to others safety on both sides of the fence!

 

I agree and even though the one that put the idea out there has said he is not going and it all is a joke doesn't mean someone won't take it serious. Probably a good thing the target date was a ways off and most now see it as a bad idea.
The hotels have said they are booked solid. If the owners were smart they probably booked with "No Cancellations" policy.

 

This a very irresponsible hoax with potentially fatal consequences.
I'm all for freedom of speech but those who spread this kind of crap should be arrested and charged with inciting people to commit an illegal act.

 

I feel the same way about people who promote protest just to fuel the fire to incite violence with no real concern for injuries or death to the people protesting or the law officers trying to contain the crowd.

Wow! Hate to think some young people get caught up in this event and it ends bad! It is now being called a Festival by the originator, a party of sorts. What could go wrong with that? "Said with Sarcasm!!"

 

Its social media false hype, young people wanting followers and likes.

If its followed through with then yes, they are kidding themselves and deserve what they get!

Sorry, but no one likes the truth.

From the beginning I have said it was a bad idea. Still I would not wish harm to anyone no matter how dumb they are. I do hope a bunch of college students don't get the idea this would be a cool road trip that weekend and decide to go. Maybe it will fizzle out before it happens.

 

They came, They saw, Then they mostly just stood around!

 

And some apprehended already!
