The Ares Rocket is on the launch pad RIGHT NOW!! They're at a 4 minute and holding count. Was supposed to launch at 8 AM EST, but they must have waited. They're saying the 4 minute countdown will resume at 9:20 AM

Here's a link to the video I have up. They just said it might adjust out a bit more than 9:20, so you've got time!

I want pics Star, LOL ;)

Okay, time for me to claim ignorance now:-o I've heard about this rocket and really haven't been following the story. Isn't it the one that supposed to replace the older space shuttles?

Yup, too bad there's going to be a 7 year gap between the shuttles retirement next year and the scheduled 2017 operational date for the Ares. I guess the astronauts will have to train in Russia and take the Soyuz commuter train to the ISS, which is supposed to be de-orbited in 2017 also.:cry

Supposed to start the countdown at 10:50 with lift-off at 10:54

Moved countdown to 11:00 AM, Launch at 11:04.

They have a window until noon, and then, that's it. These are Eastern Standard times.

Yes, it was.. A little more boring than the shuttle, but neither would I call boring. I just think there's more going on to watch when the shuttle goes up.

When they come across with numbers like 100 seconds in flight, 32 miles down range.. Geeeeez.. I hope it's a hybrid... LOL kidding

I wonder if anyone got high res. pics? ;) hehe

Ya, watching a pencil with a large eraser go up is not as dramatic as the big lumbering giant is awakening from a snooze. :)

First thing I thought what was all that tumbling about :confused I thought it was game over the whole thing was gonna break apart.

Nice launch,as far as I can see they used the same grain configuration as the regular shuttle booster role but adjusted the fuel ratio's.

Always wanted to see a booster go up on its own to see how far it would get and now I have:)
