arrgh!! need bf1942 advice

i have only just got my pc on-line i have downloaded a firewall and ad aware(thanks)... then felt the time was right to get shot up on bf1942 0n-line when i tried to to connect however it told me i needed to update my version of the game(it was updated when i got secret weapons????) i visited the official website downloaded the patches (zipfiles) but cannot install them.. i have unzipped them but when i try to open them it ask's me to select the programme that created the file???? i'm stuck

call me names if you like but send help fast as my desire to be killed mercilessly is great

Are you sure you downloaded the patch for windows? There are linux and pc patches so that might be your problem. As far as I remember the patches for windows arent zipped. Maybe you missed the right one as you scrolled down.

You downloaded it from here right? You are updated to v1.6?

that link hasn't taken me anywhere, it attempt to locate the same website the battlefied disk does when you select updates. however i did visit the (new?) official bf site and low i had downloaded the linux patches but i got the right one now will see if it works today!!!! thanks.... dude.

 

Your welcome, hope you have fun. You should download DC. v7 and DC final. They are 2 of the best mods besides secret weapons in my opinion.
