In the process of downloading an interactive map I wound up with a Yes toolbar.
Chased down a few sites on how to delete it, but they keep referring to removing programs and look for the Ask program.
Perhaps I am getting even more nearsighted in my advancing years. I do not find such a program.
Other sites want me to download their program to remove a program.
Could someone recommend a way to taake out the Ask toolbar?

    Thanks,
    Sarge

If you have a system restore point that pre-dates the d/load then use that. You may have to re-download the map, this time checking for any addons the installer is trying to foist on you.

You can go to tools>add-ons and remove it, or download Revo - http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/revo_uninstaller.html

In the future, when downloading a program, check "custom" and uncheck anything it wants to add.

Also on following pages, click "decline".

I believe the Ask toolbar will appear in your Windows 7 Programs and Features panel; if so, you can just uninstall it there. At least, that has been my experience from once getting it installed due to me overlooking the option to unselect it when I installed whatever software I downloaded that came bundled with the Ask toolbar.

Hello Sarge - sounds like you may have downloaded the MapsGalaxy toolbar, which is not an Ask product, but it does use our search results. It may have changed your default search engine or default homepage, but it's not the Ask Toolbar per se. Those settings are very easy to change in your browser, and shouldn't ever require downloading a program.

I'm not sure what browser you're using, but you'll find all of the instructions for changing default homepage and search engine settings in this article in our Help Center:

    http://help.ask.com/link/portal/30015/30018/Article/1/How-do-I-remove-the-Ask-com-Toolbar

Skip down past the Ask Toolbar removal steps, and find the pair of articles that correspond to the browser you're using. If I can help with anything else, please feel free to get in touch via the Help Center.

    Eric
