ASPI problems anybody know?

howdy

I am trying to use Clony to backup my games and it said "no ASPI layer installed". So I went to adaptecs site and I downloaded the latest ASPI drivers for XP, ASPI drivers version 4.71. Now when I load CLONY and error screen comes up and the program immediately crashes. Can anybody help?

well I just downloaded the new version of Clony XXL and I don't get the error message. I opened up Clony and typed "scan disk" it said the disck is protected by "SafeDisk".. I can't figure out how to copy the CD though... what do I do after it detects that the CD has "SafeDisk"? There is no option to go into CloneCD from Clony or anything like that.. help!

safe disk prevents you from copying the CD.. yup, copy protection. Some other CD copy software "ignores" this and proceeds with the burn. I don't do a lot of copying of cd's so I'm no expert on that area. I've never used clony either.

 

ok, well before i go into a detailed tutorial on how to copy SafeDisk v2 disks, i need to check that its not against the rules, which it probably is. If you own the game (which i presume it is) then usualy just Data CD image will do fine.. will post when checked rules

 

this is always a touchy subject. While we'd love to entertain the notion that everyone is a legit person, that is not always the case. We can't confirm, via the internet , that there is any truth to ones statements. They may be true, they may not be; and it is in the best interest of Major Geeks to not support any type of copying of materials that are copyrighted.
if the disk has copy protection, then I'd say there is a reason for it. I hope you accept my apologies, but we cannot support you on this matter.

I cannot understand this because WHEN I SPEND FIFTY DOLLARS on a game I better be able to back it up! I think it's retarded they don't let me back up my games. Anyway you guys help me alot so I'm not going to argue and I thank you for all the times you guys have helped me.

 

I agree with you 100% that you should be able to back up your games. no doubt! No argument there. But it seems that a lot of companies won't let you do it any more. I'm sure if you googled it, you could find an answer to your problem.
