Assistance with Opera

hi,
I just installed Opera 8.5
I have been trying to find anything about setting it as non default browser but I found very unclear informations
So can you tell me

How to set it up as a non default browser?
and how to disable Chat and Mail,and do I need to

I lounched after installation, but forgot to ask about these things,so I didn't allow it in the Internet zone yet.
Can you answer me on these two above questions?
Or point me to the right sites for this.

I wanted to install Opera as a helper browser,for fun ,emergency or if FIrefox dies,
I still want to have Firefox as default

So as I gathered ,I can check like you said, and click "No",when asked the default question.
Or do I just uncheck immediately?
This is important,because I don't want to kill Firefox

As for Chat,I just don't like it'
And about Opera's Mail,I don't know if enabling this ,changes the roll of Outlook Expres,because it does the job for me.

I will download,almost immidiately Opera 9.0,but with this Opera and then first learn how to use Firefox and Opera 8.5.4 ,so I can move on to 9.0.

And I need something to get help with,because I want to reinstall Firefox.
Opera is simillar,and fast and secure.

So I would be gratefull if you reply.
I'm having trouble with configuring Opera ,
and if you know any really good,and detailed guide or tutorial,for preferences in Opera 8.5 ,please point me to them.

I have found one somewhere,but I haven't bookmarked it,and I've cleared the cache in firefox.I can't find it anymore.
Sorry for this request but I'm really sick of trying to find it.

(one of the main problems is setting what exstensions will be opened(I suppose that means - something like html or pdf ...files in firefox...),and I don't know whichones to disselect and avoid )-Maybe I'm rambling here but I'm tired of looking for informations.

And I have this, not really popular NetLimiter,which I disabled(I allowed by mistake some Local Ip in the Internet Zone).If you know anything about it,I need help.
I really don't know if I need it or not,but if it is there and it's not dangerous,it is maybe better that I use it.And there is virtually nothing on their site,the forum is always down.....

Sorry for the slow respond,different times....
I have the old one,I with no firewall,because I have Zone Alarm,this is just A helper tool,but for now showing only programs allowed or not...It only ask for Ip's when some conections break down

Instaled by a friend,who is gone on some trip around the world,with no roaming and laptop....
There is no reference of firewall
I think I'll just disable it permanently
