I had to reinstall XP home after a major crash. Now on loading I get an alarm sounding and get the following message "WARNING CPU FAN FAIL OR SPEED TO LOW".
My pc is only two months old and was a coustom build and up to Saturday everything was working 110% so I know its nothing internal.I installed the cd I got with the motherboard and still nothing. The other problem Im having is that when I run Asus Probe under the monitor tab the following warnings are flashing "chipset fan below treshold" and "chassis fan below treshold" how can I solve this problem or is this normal as the board is Fanless design.Have you any idea how I can change the speed of this fan and is it anything I should be worried about. The specs at the minute is

    CPU fan 500-630 rpm
    CPU temp = 48/118F
    MB Temp = 34/93F.

    Do these figures seem normal?
This is without running any applications except Firefox and Asus probe.Any help and I will be very greatfull .Thanks in advance

Have you installed an aftermarket cooling fan sometimes the fan speed sensors dont work that good, your fan speed is very low-is it an 80mm fan? If so you want it going a good couple of thousand rpms your motherboard should have automatically upped the speed when your cpu is at 48 degrees at that temp mine increases the fan speed to around 2\3,your cpu seems ok although a little high it depends what other cooling you have installed and where your getting the temp from,if the temp is from the bios not long after switching it on its way too high

If your sure your cpu isnt overheating you can turn the cpu fan alarm off in bios I wouldnt recommend this though as it looks like it is this could have caused your earlier crash, have a look in bios at all the options related fan control try enabling\disabling any smart fan speed target options or cool and quiet functions

you may also have to look into reinstalling the heatsink assembly with some fresh quality thermal compound, what chip do you have?

O yeh welcome to the forum! :)

Thanks Rikky for the welcome and your help.
The pc is only about 8 weeks old and it was a custom build online with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+.it has one of the Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra TC fans along with two other 80mm fans so it really shouldnt be over heating. What caused the crash was a messed up install of XP pro so I had to go back and re install XP home but from boot up I get the alarm with warning message. So I installed all the software with the motherboard but its still happening and I'm getting very worried.I just cant seem to figure out how to tweek the fan speeds.I've gone through everything in the bios but cannot find the setting.I think its a communication problem between fan and motherboard as it was working 110% before the cock up.I downloaded "Speedfan" but cant find how to adjust the settings in this either. What is a safe temp for a CPU?

Your welcome:) Check your cpu fan sensor cable is installed properly into the cpu fan header, while the comp is off remove the cpu fan header and reinstall it into the header to rule out bad connection

Download speedfan and toast available here at MG

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=867

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=337

run speedfan, double click toast to start working your cpu,the temp that rises fastest is your cpu temp, close toast, click the option at the top furthest to the right Charts, select monitor temps put tick in cpu temp "the one that just rose the fastest

now go back and double click toast let it run for 5 mins then close it go to the charts in speedfan and see what your max cpu temp is include with your next post

next run do the same thing with cpu fan rpm in charts, run toast and check if your cpu fan is going up with the temp,I have my 80mm fan set now on the slowest setting of 2200 rpm which is almost silent but keeps the cpu below 45degrees under load, under 55 is what you should be aiming for or lower
