I have an ASUS K8V-X with a AMD 64(754) 2800+ 1800mhz (ClawHammer chip) with 2x512 of AM1 pc3200 DDR400 RAM. What I would like to know is, now that I`ve increased the CPU from 200 to 220 which is a 9.99% OC(I checked it with some OC software), is this ok? The chip runns at 32c browsing the web and 49c playing Unreal Tournament with the games highest settings and with 32 bots (I have a Leadtech 6600 GT with std settings) All I want is a bit extra performance without too much of a strain on the chip etc. I`m no botherded about squeezing the last drop out of my system. I have read about system/info corruption how can I check for this? Everything seems to run fine. On 3DMark 05 the system info says that the max speed of the chip is 2.4MHz is that right? As I`m running mine at 2.0MHz it should be very under stressed, is that right or have I got it wrong. I`ve looked at my BIOS settings, which is how I OCed my pc, and I can`t find/see where people alter their RAM timings 2.5 3 3 8 etc so I`ll just be happy with what I`ve got now if it`s ok to leave it like this. Thanks for any advice.
ps Is there any way that I can make my L1(64) & L2(512) cache bigger like the other AMD 64 chips have?

if its stable then it will be fine, the temps are great. If you've had any BSODs or random freezing then back off the OC, add a little more voltage, or loosen your memory timings. Im not familiar with OCing AMDs but you can mess with the memory divider if you wanna go higher. BTW, dont always go by what other people can or cant achieve; every system is different. The memory timings should be under the chipset options. And no, you cant increase the caches of your proc as they are built directly onto the die

Your L1(64) & L2(512), What you have, is it, the size cant be made bigger.
On an OCed CPU it makes Little difference, at least not once you get about 2200 Mhz

For those 2800+, the Average OC is around 2483 MHz, Northing's Guaranteed some do better, some do worse

To test Stability run Prime 95, Blended torture Test for minimum of 8hr with out any errors, then run some 3Dmarks if ya get thru that your good to go.

Voltages for CPU & memory will affect stability as well as Memory timings
For mild OC such as your 10%, the stock settings may be adequate

Your CPU & menory settings are located in the Advance BIOS features

When OCing Disable Cool & Quiet

Best to keep Max CPU temp 50c or less, Aftermarket CPU cooling can help, ThermalRight makes some Kick ass Air coolers for very reasonable prices, here's one of several.

What matters most is the Max CPU MHz

Here's a Great OCing guide, The Holy Grail of OCing Guides, read it, the read it again.
It may be geared towards DFI but the Basics apply to all AMD 64 socket 754 & 939

You can OC that Video card too, try Riva Tuner

Thanks for the advice. I got bored the other day after posting here so I really OC`d my system but it didn`t boot :( so I lowered it back down again. After this though my system decided that the Windows file should be on drive D: but after loading then transfered it to C: LOL. Re-installing everything gave me something to do and now everything seems to run smoother together, all that installing and uninstalling programs & games over time must have upset things. If you don`t know how to or want to re-install your system then don`t try OCing your pc. Still it all works well/better now! ;)
