I went ahead and put together a brand new computer, after years of upgrading and fixing the old one, I figured it was time to start from scratch.

Everything went really smoothly, until I started installing ASUS drivers.

Installing the driver's from the ASUS Motherboard CD gives us:

    Nvidia Chipset Driver Program
    Realtek Audio Driver
ASUS EPU Driver and AI Gear 3 Utility
    USB 2.0 Driver

After installing these, computer boots, and bluescreens for several seconds (or less) with:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_OR_LESS_EQUAL

at the top, and paragraphs of more information that cannot be read in the 2 or less seconds before the machine reboots itself. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled. I've thought I had it fixed only to be bluescreened by simply removing the ASUS P5N -D CD from the DVD drive. I'm really quite lost.

My most recent step was to remove the drivers from the CD install and replaced it with the equivalent directly off of ASUS' webpage, installing only the ethernet drivers. More fun bluescreen.

    System:

    BFG GeForce 9600GT OC nVidia
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Asus P5N-D 2-Way SLI nVidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset

    Antec TPQ-850 850W
    Western Digital Caviar 250GB SATAII
    Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G PC2-6400 4GB (2 x 2GB)

    Windows XP Home SP2.

Oh, the joys of the blue screen ;) If you can post the error number that accompanies this message, along with any file names listed, and any other info that might be important, we should be able to offer some suggestions. The error message you posted is WAY to general and vague, and could be produced by any driver. In the meantime, download and run a memory diagnostic. I like this one: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Windows_Memory_Diagnostic_d3955.html It's free, and bootable; it will create a bootable floppy disk or a CD .iso image you can burn. Then boot to the program and press "T" for the extended tests. Run at least 3-4 passes. It will take some time and may appear to lock up (esp test 7 and 9 and 11) but it hasn't, just be patient.

    I hope this helps!

...and welcome to Major Geeks! :major
