ASUS DRW-B1LT Drivers?

I can't seem to find current drivers for my new DVD - RW, after very carefully losing the CD that it came with - LOL!!! I find all kinds of other cah-cah, but not actual drivers for my new device. As it is, I am using drivers from 1999, and searching Microsoft updates does not find anything newer.

I run win2k - a nudge in the right direction would be most appreciated.

CD and DVD drives do not require external drivers. They have been built-in to Windows since the very early days. If the drive is reading, then it is installed and working correctly with Windows. If you need burning software, here's some excellent FREE applications for burning data, music, movies, etc:
AShampoo Burning Studio 6
BurnAware Free
CDBurnerXP (works with all Windows, not just XP)
ImgBurn (the BEST for burning ISO and other disk images)

 

That explains it.

I found the disk that came with the drive - Nero 8. It installed some stuff, and one looked like the .net framework. Since I just reinstalled everything from the ground up, I guess I had forgotten about that one.

After the Nero install, the drive is now reading at a speed that is acceptable, instead of 1/20th the speed of a 1x drive.

I have no idea how that all works, but it seems happy now.
