Hi. I'm just wondering if anybody knows how to disable the OnBoard sound on an Asus M2N-E SLI Motherboard?. I've looked in the Bios but i can't seem to find any option to disable it. I need to disable it to use this Steel Series USB Sound Card Properly. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!.

PS: I've looked on google for quite some time now and i can't seem to find any relavent information.

Looks fairly easy to find to me

Go to the Advanced section of the BIOS and pick the aptly named 'Onboard Configuration Menu' You can disable the on-board audio there.

The thumbnails show where your audio is for your motherboard. The manual shows that you have have C-Media if that helps. This is the page at ASUS, where you can download your manual.

Input your mobo ID (M2N-E SLI) in the search box (top left corner) and select manual in the catagory box.

Hi. I appreciate the response. Yeah that's what i saw alright. I disabled that USB Sound Card Option, but It's still not showing my Steel Series Sound Card??? Is it supposed to operate through the onboard sound card?. :confused

NO, add-on sound cards do not use the on-board. (At least those I am familiar with)
Is it possible that you need to change the PnP configuration? (see thumbnail)

Also, make sure that your new sound card is seated and installed correctly.

Do i need to change that Plug&Play setting? It is showing that value in the thumbnail in my bios.

EDIT: Its an external usb sound card. It goes straight into a usb port, e.g. like a usb mouse/keyboard. :)

It wouldn't hurt to try. Windows is considered a Plug and Play OS.

Right, I've just changed that value from No, to Yes. I saved the new configuration and rebooted. I logged in and checked the Device Manager and it's still showing my OnBoard sound?.

I didn't ask before, but you have the whole set-up (headphones, mic, and sound card), right?
I found the drivers for them. http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/audio/5hv2-usb/information
You can just click this to start the download: driver here
It is a .zip file. Extract it and double click the setup.exe file. Also, in the Manual folder is a detailed expalnation of the interface and setup.

I would also re-enable your on-board sound, first.

I ordered this Headset from Amazon cost me about... $100 usd? (70 gbp). Those are the drivers which i downloaded, the ones i told you about on msn messenger yesterday. Also my friend has a usb logitech sound card and he said his does not work through the onboard sound like mine. It's making me wonder now... :\

First, did you install the drivers with the headset plugged in?
Goto Control Panel> Sound> Playback tab. Is your headset showing in the list there?
Check in the Recording tab and see if you can find your headset listed there. Also, is the device usage set to "use this device"?
