asus p2-99 and wireless adapter trouble

I just got an asus p2-99 mobo and it runs great.
so i stuck an extra wifi card i had in it, and nothing at all.
took the card out and back too normal.
I think i reset the bios, i took out the battery cuz i couldnt find a cmos jumper.
could this be a pci incompatibility.
thoughts, suggestions?

What OS are you running?

Have you tried the card in another PC?

Resetting your BIOS should not effect your OS finding a new device. You said you had the card just laying around. Was it working before you put into this machine? If you are putting the card in and are getting nothing, I am assuming this means no boot up or POST, it is possible the wireless card is bad. Could be a bad port on the Motherboard.

Have you tried using a different PCI slot on the board?

 

it wont even turn on with the card in there. It just all goes dead. i know the card works, and its brand new.

 

I would try the card in another computer just to be sure.
Also try another PCI port on the motherboard.
I have had conflicts with wireless cards, trendnet and dlink, in certain slots. When I move them to another slot all seems ok.

If the PC acts dead with the card in that slot it could very well be the card or bad PCI slot. Try another PCI card, if available, in that same slot. This will help determine which way to go.
