Asus P5k premium Sound Problem

Hi, I'v just sorted out a load of start up problems and now when im trying to run any kind of sound, music, film... the speakers seam to be clipping. I'v checked the speakers with another system, they work fine, I'v re-installed the sound drivers for the mobo and as of yet no result.

Has anyone else had similar problems or any ideas that may help? I'm just running a 2.1 logitech speaker system from the main audio out.

Hi Dave,

Over driving the amplifier can cause 'clipping' at the speakers. Try reducing the volume at the sound card and/or the speaker system.

cheers for that, but I think clipping was the wrong word to use on my part... the sound comes out and stutters a bit... as if a disk was skipping and you get that split second pause, jump or slight re-play.

Tried turning the output from the board right down but doesn't seam to have helped. Just installed a load of windows updates and nothing changed!

 

Goto Start>Control Panel> Sounds and Audio.
On the Volume tab, click Advanced in the Speaker Settings area.
That opens the Advanced Audio Properties window.
Click the Performance tab.
Now slide your Hardware Acceleration down a bit.
