Asus P5P800 and ATI Radeon x850 XT

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card and I have -heard- that you have to make sure your board can work well with your card... I currently have an Ati Radeon 9800 pro... I want to get:

ASUS ATI RADEON X850 XT Video Card, 256MB GDDR3, 256-Bit, Dual DVI/VIVO, PCI-E, Model "EAX850XT/2DHTV/256M" -Retail

I was wondering if you guys think it would clash or anything like that. Any advice would be appreciated .

 

The most important thing is the socket the card plugs into,that card is pci express "PCI E",You probably want an AGP card so that card will not physically fit in,check which socket you have and post the speed of your cpu and how much ram you have

 

Your motherboard does not support that video card. You need a card that fits into an agp slot, not a pci-e. I would recommend getting a radeon x800 xt or x800 xt platinum edition. Both are two very nice cards.

 

Ok, I just feel like the only two things that my comp is lacking atm is a good graphics card and sound card (Radeon 9800 pro and Audigy 2 ZS). I have 2gb ram and a pentium 3.4ghz. Just looking to upgrade and that's all I really feel like upgrading (graphics or sound). I just went for graphics first since I figure it is more noticable than a sound card upgrade .

 

I recommend a 6800gt or ultra because I have one and its a beast but stick with ati if thats what you know,you cant really go wrong!

 

Yeah I'm kind of an ATI fanboy ^_^. It's really just that my brother is getting a new comp and it will be better than mine since he has a 9800 XT so I want something a little better . Just looking at ways to upgrade (dont even want to begin to mess w/ RAID cards though).
