ASUS Tough Dog - Vivo i5 Video Offset Problem

I recently purchased Asus' new i5 tiny desktop as a dedicated machine to display some basic stock charts and run some simple price alerts.

I really liked the amount of computer processing, small size, low power (7 watts), dual video heads, USB/mem card IO complement and SILENT OPERATION. Clearly it is not a gaming machine, but it runs 100% of what I need for a 2nd machine and was saving me some needed cash at ~$600 all in. It easily snapped in a pair of 4Gig mem sticks and a quarter gig solid state drive ... then a Win7 Pro install. Smaller than my desk candy dish and absolutely silent. Nice!

The problem arose when I tried to jack the video resolution to the full native 1920x1200 resolution to drive my two 24" LG 246 monitors. 1920x1080 runs, but isn't as clear as native. When I go to the full 1200 vertical res, the entire desktop shifts off to the left on both monitors. No access to the Windows 'Start' button. I experimented with the gamut of LG adjustments to center it, but HDMI or the DisplayPort is digital, and doesn't have the adjustments like for tweaking analog VGA signals (which incidentally the LG can do.) I have had these monitors running off and older Matrox dual head card for years ... flawlessly.

I can connect the HDMI port on my high end Sagar notebook (Nvidia GTX560M) into the LG monitor and it immediately snaps to native 1920x1200 res in perfect alignment as the notebook's 2nd monitor. So the LG seems to be capable to handle its rated resolution from as before ... as long as I am driving it with a Matrox or Nvidia chipset. LG likes Matrox and Nvidia.

As a further experiment, my son in law brought over his MacMini (with the same Intel HD video chipset as the Asus Vivo) and interestingly enough, had exactly the same left-offset to the Mac desktop. Hmmm... two vendors using the same Intel HD chip set, exhibiting the exact same problem on the LG monitor.

That pointed to the Intel Driver being in common so I upgraded that, but it didn't help.

I posted the problem on the Intel Graphics Community Forum, but the Intel moderator suggested it was an LG driver issue (which was up to date) and then he stopped responding to my further posts requesting further suggestions. Asus support was unable to offer a solution as well.

I have beat this to about the limit of my expertise and need input from someone higher than my pay grade.

My question: Has anyone seen this kind of problem before or have any suggestions of further things I might try to get this Asus box to lock into full native resolution with my LG screen?

This tiny Asus box is sweet in every other way and would be a perfect, low cost desktop for mid-level internet/multimedia/home computing/etc ... if I could just have it drive the native resolution of my 1920x1200 LG screen.

Any thoughts would really be appreciated !!!

    Best regards,
    Bruce
