at&t wireless phone pictures

you know how on cell phones now you can have background wall papers and this kind of thing? set your special ring tone, all of that?

well if you go to your cell phone companies web site you can BUY more images and sounds and crap for your phone.

i have a sony ericson phone with at&t , don't know the modle # phone but it is ugly and light blue and grey, has color display....

at anyrate basicly i dont' want to buy their pictures i just want to get my own pictures..... so i went online and found some and used a infrared
port on my laptop to upload the picture to my cell phone ...
well big suprise it wouldn't let me see the image. (it was a .jpg image)

i am wondering if anyone knows anythinga bout this junk, can i use an mpeg instead?

(i would think it would be jpeg sence they take up less space)

but i am thinking more like probly at&t are dirty money grabing bastards that make it so my phone can only read pictures i buy from them... you know

anyone know anything about this or where i can find info on this please tell me

(their website is a hopeless jungle of more adds, can't find info there)
