I have a Maxtor 200Gb ATA drive and a new Western Digital 250 Gb Hard drive that I want to install on my new system. The Maxtor already has my OS installed on it, but only has an 8MB cache. The WD has a 16 MB cache which I know has a faster data retreival rate, and should help not only my OS, but my programs to run and load faster as well.

Are there any forseeable problems in running both ATA and SATA drives in the same rig?

Would it be advisable to reinstall XP Pro on my the new WD or leave that one for installing games so that they will run faster?

Please help me in clearing up my confusion.

    Thanks in advance,

    I agree.
you can use your ATA drive to storage and shared folder for bittorrent and emule...
anyway, the difference will not be super-amazing but exist...
