ata sata hard drive question

    hey i was wondering about the harddrive i got , i got a sata seagate , and i recently bought a maxtor ata hard drive and i was woundering would i be able to use it ? would i run into any problems? thanks

    please elaborate. if i understand, you are currently using the Segate SATA drive, and you bought a new Maxtor PATA (old style) drive?

    if that is the case, you will certianly be able to use the maxtor, just make sure you set the jumper correctly when you install it, and check the hard drive boot order in the BIOS so it still boots to your SATA windows drive.

    yes you are correct InYearsToCome, i got a 80 gig sata seagate, but i need more room and there was a maxtor 250 gig on sale so i got it , thanks for the info
