ATADC External Hard Drive Won't Start?

This is my first post, so forgive. I purchased a refurbished hard drive from ATADC via Tiger Direct last summer and have been using it for my computer science degree online.

I went on vacation 2 weeks ago and shut my system down and unplugged everything before I left.

One week later, I returned to find that the hard drive would not start. Of course, it contains all my critical data for school.

I contacted Tiger Direct, and they gave me a support number for ATADC at 626-333-8480, but I can't seem to find anybody there after 2 days of trying.

Tiger Direct tells me they are no longer able to help after 30 days. The manufacturer of the hard drive is edt (singapore), so I left a message with them, but so far no answer.

The hard drive tries to start up, as I can hear it revving up, but then kicks out. It tries to start 10-20 times before it finally quits and maintains a light in the display.

Can anyone give me a lead as to how to get this drive started, or get some technical help on starting it? I will appreciate any responses with my thanks to those who want to help !!!

Well since it's refurbished and your left it out for so long, it might be broken.
