ATAPI Error

Hello out there - My AMD machine hangs often, locking up for several seconds. In the attached event viewer log I have two recurring error messages ATAPI error and CDROM error. When this occurs I am not writing to my CD and there is no physical CD in the unit. This is a big nuisance (in fact it has happened several times as I have been writing this) - any tips on how to fix. Thanks in advance - vince

Thanks davismccarn, it's a cheap enough solution if that's what it is. I just bought the barebones kit from Tiger about 2-months ago. I'll give it a shot if that's what makes sense. Maybe I can try an old DVD drive to see if that works. Thanks again - vince
