Ok, I'm going to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. I have everything almost ready except for this. I've run the Windows 7 update assistant to check for compatibility and all that.

Everything's ok, but I'm a bit confused about the wireless. In the list, it says "the vendor provides software to use this device in Windows 7", I've visited the site and even done some searches on Google, but found nothing. (And I don't think it could make sense to download them after the upgrade or something like that 'cause I wouldn't be able to connect to the internet)

Anyone could gimme a hand here?

    Hi

Is the version of this USB called AR500UG> if not whats its version/model code?

Did you get this with a PC bundle as in came with a DELL, HP PC or was it bought retail boxed? just wonder as Atheros done have that many drivers listed on their site, so may come from another source.

Also what version of Win7 you going to install, is it 64bit or 32bit?

I will help, but not going to be online until very later or tomorrow, before I can get back to you?

Well, version is AR5523, and it was bought separately. I'm upgrading to Win7 Ultimate 32bit. My processor may support 64bit, but I would prefer to avoid reinstalling all the software I have than that.

    Hi

Not finding much for this USB dongle for Win7 are a few listings for Vista that actually may work for Win7 as many Vista drivers work in Win7 ok, and the SMC USB Wifi dongle (same Atheros AR5523 chip as your USB uses) has a Vista drive HERE but dont know if it will work for you, if I had one of those USB wifi dongles I would have tried it for you to be 100% sure.

    Well, the Vista drivers work.

Sometimes I lose the connection for a while, but I don't think it's the drivers, though.

    Hi

Wifi can be problematic in disconnections at times, but this tweak works for Windows 7 also, it disabled the auto tuning of TCP/IP and can help sometimes.

Thanks again, I've done it and I'll see if it makes any difference.
