I have visited the official site and downloaded an update for my Atheros AR5005G but at the end it took me to a screen showing list of three files with the update showing in a box at the top. There were no prompts or instructions so I just closed the screen. How do I check if the update has actualy taken effect and if not what do I do.
Also when doing the update do I click Run or Save?

    Regards Alex.

    Hi

What version number was the updated download from Atheros? should be listed on the download page for the driver, with this version code open up Device Manager and then click Network Adapters and double click the Athros listed one and then click the Drivers tab and the version code of the driver installed is listed, just check its same as the one you installed.

Best is to download the driver by using Save, then open up the downloaded folder (if its a zip file then right click and Extract All) and double click the setup file if found, if no setup file then do let us know what files are listed, let us know what the download location of the driver was, your PC make and model and what Windows version you are using.

    Hi,
    I downloaded from http://www.atheros.cz/download.php?atheros=AR5005G&system=1
Having checked my Driver version no against the one at the site they don't match.
I have opened the zip file that was downloaded and there is a file called Setup Information but when opened there is a load of stuff but no prompts, options or instructions so I am stuck.
My P.C. is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7320.
I am on Windows XP with Windows Internet explorer 8.
Sorry about the delay in replying but I keep losing connectivity.

    Regards Alex

Since you said that no setup.exe file was included with the download, that leaves me to believe that you have just the 'raw' driver which must be installed via the device manager and hardware wizard. Follow the steps in this thread to install the drivers. If you have questions or problems, feel free to post! Good luck!

Sorry but I am not sure where to pick up on the instructions. Do I have to uninstall anything first? Do I need to download TUGzip ? If so where do I find it?
Sorry to be a pain but I am a complete novice.

    Cheers Alex.

If you have the drivers downloaded and you can open the folder and see the files (there's probably a .INF file or two, a .SYS file or two, etc), then you do not need TUGzip, and you would start at Step 1 at the link I provided earlier. If the driver folder has a .ZIP (or .RAR) extension, then you will need to extract it with TUGzip before starting with Step 1.

You do not need to uninstall anything first.
