I have just replace an old MOBO that was giving me fits with the ASUS K8V-MX. When I would boot up, the lights would flash and the fans would turn for a second, then everything would die. The indicator led on the MOBO would remain lit. Tryin to boot up again would yield nothing. I would have to turn off the swith on the back of the PSU and wait for the MOBOs led to go out before it would even atempt another reboot.

I stripped the system down to just the CPU, RAM, HD and DVD. This time it booted up fine. I started adding back in my sound card, NIC and video card. The video card would cause the exact same problem, were as everything else went in fine. I have tried putting the video card on its own power lead and even trying a different power lead to see if it was issues with power. Still the same problem. I even put in an old FX 5600 I had laying around, and it booted up that time. Because of this, I am fairly certain it is not the new MOBO.

I have searched around for any info on this problem. I have found some comments on compatibilty issues between this MOBO and video card. My question is, is there anything I can do about it.
