ATI Mobility Raedon 9200 display only when connected to external monitor

    Hey, lately my laptop's display hasn't been working. It works only when I connect it to an external monitor. I have a Compaq Presario X1000 laptop. My graphics card is ATI Mobility Raedon 9200. What could possibly the cause be?

    I have Windows XP Home Edition on my laptop.

    I would say your laptop screen is dead, or the connection between the graphics processor and the screen have been broken.

    Is it possible that the screen has sustained some physical damage?

    Can you clarify...
    Are you saying that the laptop screen shows a display as well as the external monitor OR the display appears only on the external monitor but nothing ever appears on the laptop screen?
    Do you see the logo when the laptop starts up OR is the screen black?
