ATI Radeon 9800pro/xt..... is it worth buying now?

my ATI X700 decided to pack itself in and i am on a tight budget
i know that 9800pro's are cheap and are relatively good allthough there time might have passed, is there much difference between 9800pro, 9800xt and the X800's, im trying not to spend alot as i am saving for other things,
please give me some advice

 

I have a 256Mb 9800 Pro, and I think it's a great card.
However, if you like to stay up to date with current games, you might find it starts to bottleneck your system. I'm getting to the stage now where I have to start throttling down certain detail settings a bit, something I previously wasn't used to.
There is quite a big performance leap btween the 9800 family and the X800 family.
Also, seeing as the x700 is PCI-Express, and the 9800 is AGP, there may be a problem using it with your motherboard.

 

my x700 is agp, lol i wouldnt suggest a 9800pro if is was a different type of slot, i had a XpertVision X700 256mb AGPx8, with the X800 family what would be the best Value for Money Card in AGP ?

 

I'd either go for an X800 GTO, a 6600 GT, or one of the 6800 flavours.

Get the best one you can afford.

Didn't realise they bought the x700 series out on AGP. You learn something new every day
