ATI Radeon HD 4890 X2!!!

Well it seems ATI have finally pulled their pinger out & pulled off an amazing feat (if the chatter is correct), we can expect a brand new set of cards.

The 4890 X2 both with dual 1GHz core clock GPU's more importantly though there will be 2 versions of the 4890 X2, a 2GB GDDR5 much like the 4870 X2 GDDR5 and a monster 4GB GDDR5.

I dare say that is defiantly a punch in the face for Nvidia, the 4890 has already been climbing the Nvidia ladder with a single GPU :-D

What do you guys think of these new monsters ATI will be putting out?

I wonder if they can Fold well. NVIDIA has been rocking in the Folding realm. Interesting stuff. I have a 3870X2, and it is a very nice gaming card. Bit long in the tooth now... :-D

 

Folding, every time I upgrade my Catylist driver I get a Folding@Home comes with it, so it will Fold if my 4870 1GB does.

The sheer power of the 4890 X2 will blow nvidia away, GDDR5 VRAM FTW nvidia still use GDDR3 :-D

It doesn't look real, but the 45nm wars between ATI & nvidia are coming.

It doesn't look real because it's too much of a jump in tech to be real, I mean the the 4870 512MB, 1GB & X2 were all first time cards, the first to have GDDR5 VRAM I mean, But the power consumption was biblical LOL I know I have one :-D

But nvidia will find it impossible to bring all those technologies together with one card, ATI had to do it gradually in the 4800 series cards now they have it cracked with the 4890 now with an X2 ver of the 4890 coming nvidia need more than PhysX to save them. Even ATI's 45nm plans have a physics processor built into them so you might see a nice market shift, "cheaper & better ATI" LOL
