I just bought a new ATI 9200 Radeon Stealth video card for my Dell 2400 (I know..not the greatest system) and when I installed it in the PCI? slot in the motherboard I have issues when I boot in XP for hardware/driver config. It seems like all the icons and applications are running, but just out of view to the left hand side of the monitor. I can see the tool bar, start menu, etc. but when I try to load the drivers, etc. I can't see what is on the screen. I have a Dell' 17 flat panel and even when I refresh and change the dimensions the apps and icons are still not viewable. This is preventing me from installing any drivers. It seems things are working/running but just slightly out of the view of the monitor (very frustrating). It also seems that my wallpaper is in like a window within the monitor.

If I remove the ATI video card and reboot then everything is back to normal. I did not deactivate anything in the BIOS or make any changes before I inserted the card. This is extremely frustrating as I feel that I am right around the corner from getting this to work. Any ideas? I am dieing to play Ages of Empire III with a decent video card and now I think I wasted $100 on the card. This is my first post - any help will be appreciated.

Sounds to me like its a compatibility issue. Meaning the Motherboard and the Video Card dont like each other. Hmm im not sure if you can do this, but your Video Card should have come with a Driver CD....can you boot from it? If not, put it your CD rom, boot into windows (Assuming you cant see anything) and then when you know you are at the desktop press and hold the windows key, and hit "R" This will bring up the Run command....then type in the Letter of your drive and setup... i.e. d:\setup Hopefully that will load the CD, and maybe it will work, lol.

Did you check your bios to see if you can disable your onboard video?
If you can disable it try that and put your radeon 9200 in and see if that works.

:) Problem solved. I managed to deactivate the internal cards adapter and make the video card monitor the primary monitor and upon reboot the start menu was visible and the resolution was aligned correctly to the monitor. Although I will not be able to seemlessly switch from monitor 1 to monitor 2 i got the new video card to work and I appreciate the feedback.
