ati radeon x1650 video card error

Hi again guys,

I was wanting to know if someone could help me out... I have an ati radeon x1650 pro video card and it's been working fine up until a few weeks ago. I install the new drivers from the ati website and it comes up with the error: This device cannot start. (Code 10). No matter what I do, it still comes up with this error.

I was getting an issue with windows xp which the guy down the computer shop told me was the drivers causing the problem, so I reinstalled xp on the comp and it came good but now this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I own that same card and I upgraded to the Saphire 3850 that I purchased from Newegg.com no problems since. Have you removed the card and tried installing a differant one to see if the error still happens? It could be the card and not the driver. Hope this can help you out.

thanks for your reply, yes I have done that... I purchased a gforce 6200 and that was also working fine up until a few days ago as well... I am actually thinking it is something to do with my XP.

 

Maybe you could try updating your motherboard/chipset drivers, if you're unsure what you need get this app:

Everest Home edition, its a free application that will give you complete system specs and where you can go to get the mobo drivers.
