I purchased an ATI TV wonder external tuner. I have installed all drivers and software as described but cannot get a picture. It only seems to read about 22 channels listed on the channel guide. I have tried running it on the program that comes with it (Catalyst) as well as on MS Media center but still I can get no picture, just shows static. It reads some of the guide but that may have just been puled offline. I have tried running the coaxial from both the wall as well as out of the cable box but with the same results. Initially it didn't even get static, it just read no signal, now it just shows static. If anyone has any suggestion please let me know as I purchased this from circuit city and as they are going out of business I can not return this to the store.

Haven't had any experience with the TV Wonder but When I set up my media center I couldn't get a picture either. I found that if I held the coax connector just on (or not even on it, but as close as possible without touching) I could get a signal level. After getting a guy to come check my signal levels and him saying everything is fine I got to thinking and plugged in an 12DB attenuator I had and the signal was perfect.
Not saying this is your issue or that I have any idea about tv signals but it seems in my case the signal was too high for the card due to the mast amplifier I have.

I think running it through my old VCR also worked as I assume it does a similar job.
As I said no idea if this is your issue and no idea why but just letting you know this worked for me :)

smdmartin, did you ever sold this issue?

I'm having the same problem -- I've got the TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner, picked up a CableCard this week from Comcast, and have had no luck geting *any* channels, encrypted or not. Nothing but static.

Anyway, even though this is an old thread, I thought I'd check to see if you had any luck.
