So, I recently bought a BFG 7900 GTX, and a friend of mine with virtually the same setup as mine bought the X1900XTX, He wants to go crossfire, and I soon will be going SLI, anyone have thoughts on whose benchmarks will be higher??

    Similar System Stats:

ASUS Motherboards (Same FSB, his is ATI, mine is Nvidia)
--I have the A8N SLI Deluxe
    --He has A8R32-MVP Deluxe
Dual Raptors 36.0GBs in Raid 0
He has Big Water 45 Cooling, I have Big water SE (Same temp.s though)
--He has an Opteron overclocked to 2.70
--I have an Athlon 4200+ Overclocked to 4.60
    Both with Ultra X2 550 Watt PSU's
    Same OS (w/ same updates)
    Same RAM (2GB XMS Corsair)

I couldnt help notice you stated your 4200+ is OCed to 4.6
    Ya, Right:rolleyes:
Your sig says 2615MHz, Most with 4200+ cant get both cores stable at 2.6

After both of you get your cards, Can you both Post your benchies

Well, It's really kinda wierd... I've read some reviews that say 2.8 can ran without a hitch, but i was getting blue screens when i ran 3dmark, i think that i didnt set the voltage right though.

If your getting blue screens then its overclocked way too far,I can run my 3500+ '2.2' at 2.62 totally stable in prime and 3dmark overnight anything above 2.62 and prime will fail after 30 mins or so,but I can run 3dmark all the way up to 2.8 before I get BSOD

Try running primes torture test,if it fails with an error in less than 3-4 hours its unstable and will slowly corrupt your operating system and make your comp unstable

The only Guarantee is for what ever CPU your guaranteed to run at the rated speed.
Anything more is just a Bonus
Most any CPU can be OCed above it it's rated speed, Two exact CPU's with the same exact stepping on the same exact MOBO will OC different.

If your prime stable & you Blue screen, Freeze up or restart when running 3Dmark back off the Video card OC and try again

A crappy PSU can limit your OC
Poor cooling can also limit your OC or ability to pass prime
Voltage, extra voltage = heat, best to keep low raise only if need be

I don't consider my system stable till I can run Prime95/Torture Test, Blend for at least 8hr without error
    I'll also run Super PI Mod & 3Dmark 2001SE/ 03 & 05, Memtest & benchmark my memory with Everest

In reality not much Dif between 2.6 & 2.8, Butt a huge difference between Stable & Not

Here's Prime95 stable screenie of my DFI NF4 Ultra D with my Opteron 146 at 2760MHz, not bad for $154 CPU (I'm running on Air, idle 32c max during prime was 50c, average low 40's)
