    Ok here are my specs:
    Video card: ATI X800XT AGP 8x (Giga-byte)
    Motherboard: Giga-byte GA-8IK1100
    CPU: P4 2.8GHz w/ HT
    Memory: 2GB running at dual-channel
Hard Drives: 2 Seagate 160 Gb's running on raid 0
---and an IDE 100GB (not used for gaming)
    Driver: Catalyst 6.1

Ok so here's the deal. I think it's my PSU but I don't want to waste the money if it isn't. The Easytune4 utility that came with my motherboard is reading the follow voltages:

    VCoreA: +1.540V
    +3.3V: +3.070V
    +5V: +4.890V
    +12V: +11.98V

I'm not sure which of the voltages the card uses. I think probably the 3.3V which is pretty low according to the Easytune4 utility. However, I am not sure how accurate the easytune4 utility is.

Anyways, back to the problem. When I play Call of Duty 2 (or any game really), the game either just plain freezes requiring my pushing the reset button or the game freezes for anywhere from 2-10 seconds and continues for a few minutes and freezes again. The latter is what is happening with Call of Duty 2. I am fairly confident it is the PSU, but would low voltages cause this? I don't have any problems unless I am playing a game.

    Thanks for your time/help.

If your card isnt getting enough power it will throttle down which may give the symptom of choppy gameplay in extreme circumstances,do you have the model of your psu?

Dont trust any voltage monitoring software its only a rough guide to serious problems, the most important when dealing with video cards is the 12v,therefore its advisable to have at least 20 amps on the 12v rail depending on what other hardware you have installed this can be checked on the side of your current psu

In COD2 does the symptom occur in both multiplayer and singleplayer, does it happen after the same amount of time, have you checked the temperature of your cpu and vid card as these will also throttle down when overheating

Try re-arranging your psu connections as a short term fix to make sure the power drawn is spread evenly over the psu rails, post the temps under load by running a program such as speedfan or sandra lite in the background while playing

Try alt-tab to desktop when experiencing the slowdown then cont=alt-del see if any proccess is using all of your memory up.also has this problem just occured or is this a new card? :)

Well, I sucked it up and bought a 520W power supply. I had similar problems with SWAT 4--althought it would just plain lockup in SWAT 4. I unplugged my third (the IDE) hard drive and the problem disappeared. Cooling could be an issue but is unlikey as it will happen when I run the game on minimum settings also.

The symptoms happen in single player. I'd imagine they would happen in multi-player too, but haven't tried yet.

I have tried killing basically every process & disabling the virtual memory in windows.

The card is 1+ years old. I'm fairly sure the card is fine though. Hopefully this power supply fixes it. If not, I guess I could sell it.
