I installed an ATI 9600 video card and the install guide says to flash the video BIOS. I downloaded it and unzipped it to a floppy. Then went to DOS and followed install directions, typed-A:\>atiflash -p0 r96s128d.f2 and I keep getting a help menu

    atiflash V1.6 help

    format: atiflash [command] [parameter1] [parameter2] <options/s>

    [command]

-i display information of ati pci adapters in the system

-p<num> <file> [r] write BIOS in file<file> to flash rom in adapter<num>. reboot after write if[r] flag is specified

    -pm<num> <file> [r] write bios for mac

-s<num> <file> [size] ave bios image from adapter <num> to file<file>. [size] kbytes of rom content is saved if [size] is specified

-v dispay VGA card model name and BIOS version.

    <options/s>:

-loadimg searches bios imag forom current directory & loads first image foundthat matches bios/n ofthe current rom contentregardless of bios revision.
    usage "-p<num>-loadimg"

-load 505 same as loadimg etc.

-f force flashing regardless of security checking

    * <num>= adapter <file>= filename [size]= data size in kbytes

    * use command -i to see adapter numbers in system

Does this mean that it flashed, or is there more I have to do? There is a program with this card called V-tune that doesn't work maybe because the BIOS didn't flash? I tried entering the commands from the help menu and I just keep getting bad command, or it takes me back to help. Is there a way to check to see if it flashed?

    The installation guide recommended it.

it "recommended" it or sayd you could do it? its never recommended to flash a bios, video or otherwise, unless there is something wrong with the current bios, and a flash will fix it.

i'm going to assume it didn't flash. therefore, I wouldn't mess with it anymore.

I'm looking at the manual, and they list BIOS FLASH UTILITY as the final step in the installation. When I first installed this card, it didn't work very well, then I went into AGP and P2P bridge control, and changed aperature size from 64 to 128, mode from 2x to 4x, (my board doesn't support 8x)AGP fast right to enabled, AGP driving control to auto, AGP Master 1 WS write enabled, AGP master 1 WS read disabled. The card works much better now, but V-tune still doesn't work, and I would like to overclocked this card a little, and don't know any other way to do it.
