Attention Photobucket users!

Photobucket has posted an announcement that due to a security hiccup, they want all members to change their passwords right away. For details, see the Photobucket forums.

 

I posted a problem ticket there a few days ago, about xponlinescanner.com popping up once in a while. Of course it's malware. I wonder if this is related?

It could be, the person posting this announcement is also the person that asked members to email the Photobucket staff with details on xponlinescanner.com If it is, I personally see it as a good sign that they take security and user feedback seriously.

quickly as possible to isolate and remove the malicious advertisement.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact advertisement that
is causing this malicious pop-up to appear, so we are kindly requesting some

What is the date and time of day that you last experienced this issue?
Where are you geographically located?
What were you doing immediately prior to seeing this malicious advertisement?
Can you describe what advertisements were on the page immediately prior to
this?
What antivirus and/or firewall software do you use on your computer?
When was your last full virus scan? If you have not done one within the past
48 hours, please do so.
When did you last reboot your computer, modem and/or router? If you have not
done this recently, we would ask that you do this now.

Would you please open a browser window and go to
http://www.useragentstring.com/. Once there, information will populate the box
below 'Your User Agent String'. Please copy and paste that information into
your email response to us.

 

Shoot...that would require my remembering my current password, I guess. Wonder what that is... rolleyes

Actually, just went there to do this and didn't see an announcement of any kind.

Aha! Gotcha. It only appears when you sign in. Now about remembering that password...

 

Yup Mimsy, they are serious. It gives me a warm feeling inside to know that there are still some good sites left, not as good as single malt but I'll take it.

 

There is almost nothing as good as single malt. :wine

BTW... FF users can find their passwords they saved in the Tools>Options>Security section

 

IE users can find them, too...but that only works if you save your passwords because you're not sharing your computer.
