I have used Audacity before on another computer and it worked great. I bought a new computer and am having trouble trying to get Audacity to record. I downloaded lame_enc.dll for Audacity and it still wont work. Can anyone tell me what I am dooig wrong?? I am missing something in my downloading process. Would firewalls prevent a clean download?? Please help me. ANYONE. ODIE:confused:

lame_enc.dll is an mp3 codec for saving to mp3 format, it has nothing to do with recording.

Could you give a little more info as to what is happening. Do you get any error messages, does it act like it's recording but no audio, does it lock up, etc?

Have you gone into the Windows mixer panel, selected recording properties and checked to see if the proper input is selected for recording and not muted?

When I record w/ it it looks as if it is recording but no waves and no sound at the end of session. Also, where is the Windows Mixer Panel Found?? Where and how do I do this?? I have wins media player. ODIE

Look down in the system tray (the set of icons next to the clock) and look for an icon that looks like a speaker. Double click on it. Then click on Options, Properties. Where it says "Adjust volume for" select the recording option and click on the Ok button. Now depending on what you are trying to record from, select that option and make sure the volume slider is at least half way up.

Thanks for your input. I did all you suggested and it still records w/ no sound. I download Audacity from MG site. The recorder is working but is not capturing any sound. Anyone else got any advice?? It worked perfect on the other computer, but not this one. Help me please. ODIE

GD: I listen to internet radio on wins media player, and from time to time I record music to my Comp to listen to later in a playlist. Also I listen to conference recording from my business website and I want to record these calls to listen to later. I plan to get VoIP phone service from my company and I want to record these phone calls. I thought that Audacity would work for me like it had in the past. Can you give me some advise?? ODIE:)

What device did you select under the recording options? What options are available in the recording options?
