Audio books download: Listen thru computer ?

can i download an audio book and listen thru my computer ? or do i have to have an mp3 player , etc. ? what websites would have history, classic literature, etc. thanks

Hi

Depends on where you are downloading them from and what format they are in? do you know the format by any chance (.mp3, .m4a etc) as many in Mp3 format will play in Windows Media Player ok.

What Windows version you using?

http://www.audible.co.uk/ is one I know of, personally dont have much cause to play audiobooks so only know of this site as its part of Amazon, so to help others narrow this down more, do you mind paid or do you want free options on audiobooks as well?

thanks; it says mp3 or ipod; doesn't have to be free; where abouts are you in england ? (i'm a world history buff)

If you buy books from Audible you can download them into iTunes or Windows media player. You can listen to the book from your computer without transferring to a CD or MP3 player. If using iTunes there is an Audible file which holds all the downloads. Just open that. Audible have a wide range of content including your special interests.

No need to buy books. There are quite a few sources for free audio books.
Your computer should be able to play mp3 files without you needing to purchase an mp3 player.
