audio delay

my htpcs audio is ahead of my video is there any software for windows that will just let me set a delay on all outgoing audio?
or would it be best if i do that through the receiver i have?

 

Do you experience the delay on every media file you play with both audio and video? Does it happen if you watch DVD movies? Does it happen with YouTube? What about AVI or MPEG video files? If it happens with everything, it is a sign of a deeper issue. Adding a delay to all outgoing audio (if it was that simple which it is not) would be like standing under an umbrella in a torrential downpour on a small island in the middle of a rising river; you're staying dry for the time being, but sooner or later, you'll be soaked and have a MUCH bigger problem on your hands.

 

maybe but i did research on this and the reason the audio is slightly ahead of the video is because of processing. video takes a lot longer (speaking in milliseconds) than audio. and as such it simply happens sooner.

i dont think that it is because of deeper issues because the only time it happens is when the computer is playing live tv or high res media but not on normal gui operations or anything else.

i just need software to time the audio right. they have professional hardware devices to do this but they cost about 100 dollars. i was just hoping there was a software fix for this.♦
