ok, the audiodevice shows a playing on my computer. Everything oksto e runing fine, all the eq s are working, yet there is no sound coming out of the speakers. I have checked connections, I have also checked setting in the OS, and so on. Everything looks fine, its just no sound is coming out of the speakers. Could this b a problem with the sound card built onto the board?

there is no yellow in the device manager either. I checked that too. I am really unsure of what it could be

Have you tried a set of headphones? Are the speakers powered? Silly as it may seem, but did you plug the AC adapter in for the speakers and turn the speakers on?:-D

speakers were turned on, the headphones, I id not try, although I do have another jack for tv audio from the computer so I did try that one, still no sound from there either. It does read as though it is working, it say it is plugged in proprly and working correctly.

Perhaps you could borrow or buy another set of speakers to try out. Make sure they are plugged into the light green jack on the back of the computer. I would try the headphones first to eliminate the chance that the onboard sound chip is bad. Do you have a slot on the MB that you could add a sound card?

I have the sound back on riht now. I took the case off to check the onboard sound chip last night. That was the second time it had done it, it also did it the night before with me checking for the problems. If it does it again, I will check with the headphones. Im just trying to hopefully find the root cause by checking with you guys so that I can stay on top of it.

This may be off the mark, but it's worth asking for future reference. You didn't happen to have two sound-related programs running, did you? The reason I ask is that some programs use ASIO audio drivers, and those will "take over" the system in such a way that the program running with ASIO will be able to produce sound, but other programs running at the same time will not.

as far as I know, I have one, soundMAX set up after installing drivers. Im not if that is taking over anything else, if installed. But I have checked on all installed programs, which say they are all running fine. It could very well be just that, if it is though, how could I make sure to keep it set on one?

Oh it's the sort of thing you'd know because you did it on purpose, like attempting to record the sound from your browser - which will default to using a standard audio driver unless you tell it not to - into an audio recording program like Audition or Pro Tools, etc, which perform with less latency when using ASIO drivers.
It's a common problem for people just getting into music production to run into when they want to sample something from online but the internet seems to be silent.

okk, this is what has worked thus far./ I have to turn off the computer, unplug the speakers, then plug them back in. Turn the computer back on, the sound has come back on with this method thus far.
