Audacity is favoured by many. The price is right.

Although, it may not be able to output the file format your phone expects. If you were to post back with that info, we may be able to make better recommendations.

I have a sony erricson W31 that accepts MP3 or MP4 ringtone files.
I installed Audacity today but found out that I would need another program to import my media files from windows player, so I also instaled Super (c). I haven't tried to create any ringtones yet, been busy most of the day, maybe tomarrow.
If you have a better idea of how to import files from windows player (10)... I'm all ears!!!

    Are they .WMA files?

    the windows files are .wma.
I transfered a file to Audacity and have begun cropping it, not finished yet. It's tedious, but I'll get back to you later today to let you know how it goes getting it to my phone.
I'm still interested in a better way to do this, if it is available.

Can't you click import on Audacity, browse to the file and import it? Anyway you said you are already editing it
Once you have your editing done on Audacity, you export the file as a .mp3 file.
In order to do that you have to get the the lame_enc.dll. All I did was go to this site and download it, then moved the lame_enc.dll to the Audacity main folder and deleted the folder the .dll came in.
One other thing is that you may need WinRar to unzip the file...Not sure of that. I have WinRar installed but the file says .zip, so you may be able to unzip it through Windows.
This sounds like a lot of hassle but the next time you want to create a ring tone, you will have all the right stuff.

Just letting you know I figured this out a couple of days ago...:clap

I had to import my .wma files to Super then import them from C:, which is where they automatically become files, to Audacity. From there I cropped them to what I wanted and exported them to a folder. I have software for my phone to get files from my comp, so I just searched for the folder and uploaded to my phone.
Pretty easy after a couple of tries...

    Thanks for the help...
