When I play a audio or video file and repeat the file does XP place the file in the RAM or is the HD constantly being used? BTW does the green light come on only when info is being written?

What happens when I play a video file of 2 gbs while the RAM is only 1 gb? Does XP swap the file in and out of the HD?
