I have a generic computer that I just reformatted. All the drivers are good to go except for one hitch... I installed the audio driver based on PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3059... It gave me the driver "VinylAC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM)" which made everything look good in the control panel, but it's giving me one problem... The speaker out is only working when I plug it into the microphone 'IN'. Weird? It's an onboard audio ouput.... Do you think the driver is wrong? Thanks.

Does it work normally through the microphone plug, or is it much quieter than it should be. The microphone is a kind of speaker, so it's possible to get something out of it.

Have you checked under Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices - especially the settings under the Audio tab (is the right Sound Playback device selected?), and also make sure nothing is muted that shouldn't be.

Sorry I should have posted... I was actually a driver issue. I ended up going to the motherboard manufacturer's (Asus) website and getting the driver from there, instead of using the driver that was coming up by entering the driver details (PCI/VEN). and it works now.
