Did you install a Audio 'Y' Cable between the CD and DVD to the Motherboard? If you did not, you will have to either go to a local computer shop or Best Buy, and get the cable. Just let them know that you have two internal CD Rom devices, and need want the Audio cable to hook both of them to the motherboard, but you already have the data cable.

Most places will know, and if you go to the Geeksquad counter at Best Buy, they will know what you are talking about, unlike the blueshirt drones.

could it be since this is a newer dvd/cd player burner, that it dont need the audio cable connected to the mobo and that is causing the trouble. if i unhooked the audio cable you think that it would play the sound properly in dvds and cds. i dont have the computer here at my house so i will have to try this tomorrow if you think that could be a fix. thanks, i read that on another post that is why im asking this question

No. I never plug those audio cables in. Don't waste your time messing with that. If your cd drive uses digital audio extraction, which nearly all drives do anymore, then the audio cable is just not needed.

Have you tried different software to play your DVDs? Or is it just the one program that doesn't work?

yes i did check all different media players and no it did not work, my question now is would me plugging that audio cord into the back of the dvd player cause the dvd sound not to play, now when i put a cd in, a cd does play. thanks
