I have a question? I have some BNK files that I need to convert to wav of cda files so that I can burn them onto a CD. Is there some software that I can download that will convert these types of files to regular audio files?

I've never heard of BNK files. What application are they from?

Other than Bundesverband Niedergelassener Kardiologen, I've no idea what that stands for.

Looks like its a rip from somthing. A game or a DVD maybe?

Try using FMV extractor : http://www.necrotech.de/software/fmv/index.html

Should be able to convert to wav files from there. cda isnt a real audio file format. Its simply a way that the OS represents tracks and gives references to their position on the CD. If you just copy a cda file off a CD, eject the CD and try and play it, it wont work.

I downloaded the FMV extractor but apparently these are't files that it recognizes- I am trying to burn the songs from the videogame to a CD. The BNK extension wasn't found with the FMV extractor.

I was going to suggest Cool Edit, but Adobe bought it, renamed it, and raised the price to $300.

Adobe: God of unholy overpriced software.

You could also try opening the files with Audacity. That might be able to make sense of them.

Auacity opens them, but I don't know WTH the files are after they are opened- they seem either sped up (100 times) or misread or somehthing- I'll have to read the readme for this software because it seems a bit complex.

BNK files are a propriatory format from Bink Video and is used to compress video and audio files for games. They have various tools on their web page that may be able to help you out.

I tried the Miles sound system first, and then the Bink and Smacker programs- nothing worked. I am close to giving up, but I;ll hold out hope that I can figure something out. Thanks for your input.

Thats not the worst part. Audition is EXACTLY the same as cool edit pro 2.1, appart from the fact that some of the processes are renamed, and are less functional. And it crashes!

They're pushing it with their new video editing suite, along with premier, after effects and encore. I guess they just needed an audio specialist editor to make it complete.

Anyway, Bink... yes you could try using "audition" to open it but i doubt it would work. As far as I can tell it is a sequencer with embedded instrument sounds, and so you need to play file with the sequence of notes in the right order, and for the right length of time. But whatever it is, it is very very compressed.
