I saw this in the paper this morning.
    http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/que...h-queensland-golf-course-20161214-gtau0j.html
The golfers were walking down the fairway when they encountered 4 metre scrub python that was in the process of swallowing a wallaby whole. The golfers said that the snake didn't upset play and they just played through.
Pythons are non venomous and they kill their prey by crushing them like a Boa Constrictor.
Did you notice how big the wallaby is compared to the snake.... it was later reported that the snake swallowed the entire wallaby and then slithered off back into the bush.......yikes

It tastes almost the same as kangaroo (not quite so strong). The taste is like something between lamb and beef. The meat is very lean and low in fat and it is usually cooked very quickly on high heat to stop it becoming dry and tough. Kangaroos are eaten more than wallabies as they are much bigger animals and in some areas they are in plague proportions. For years kangaroo was only used for pet food but with all the foodie restaurants popping up in the last 10 years it has now become very fashionable.
BTW Being Australia we eat both of the animals on our coat of arms lol

Gosh....silly me what was I thinking
Hmmm you are almost right on the snake flavour. Snake tastes like chicken in texture and flavour with a strong fishy sort of taste and it is quite greasy with lots of bones.
I am not a fan of either snake or crocodile as the fishy chicken flavour doesn't get concealed by spices and all those bones :(

Is 'crikey' a widely used term in Australia?

Crikey was a very popular mild swear word from around the 1840s to the 1960s and it has recently had a resurgence when, the now deceased, Steve Irwin used it as his catch cry. Now it is mainly used to add Aussie effect to conversation denoting surprise. Crikey is a euphemism for Christ.
Another popular Aussie mild swear word is strewth and this was popular during the same period although this is still commonly used in country communities. Strewth is a euphemism for God's truth.
Both these words are still used in Australia as exclamations of surprise.

I remember my late dad and his younger brother using the word crickey during the '60s & '70s.

Hehehe yep that's when you are really surprised :p
Yep crikey never died out but it was just used less ;)
My grandparents used it all the time but my parents their friends hardly ever used it:)
When Steve Irwin started wrestling crocodiles and other dangerous wildlife for American TV he used it all the time and it became popular with another generation
