Highly Recommended. Awesome customer support. They will go out of their way to help you anyway they can. Large hardware selection, nice friendly forums. Will call you up for credit card details, and also allow direct deposit for those not willing to use credit cards. Will even flash motherboard BIOSes to the most up to date to support the latest processors if you ask them to. Very good packaging. They use Aussie Air Express and Star Track

    Comments:
Not very good protective packaging. Ask for more when you order. AWESOME speed. If it's in stock you can usually get it overnight. I live in Mareeba(West of Cairns) and orders come through overnight. Very nice search capabilities on their website, let's you narrow down exactly what you want. They use Toll IPEC for express delivery.(plus they sell Zunes.. if you want one)

Thanks to BCGray, I followed on one of his hints and came across http://www.shopbot.com.au

Don't know how good they are at finding comaprison prices in OZ, but maybe worth a try. I'll search it for my new Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3200 Laser, and see how much, too much, I paid for it. :D Bazza

    looks good

using bigbazzas search term - shopbot came in a touch cheaper

using both of them together should provide very good results.

I like to just find a couple of good sites and stick to them for credit card security.
But, I always look around - staticice & shopbot make this a lot easier and quicker

damn thats an expensive keyboard / mouse combo !!

I paid over $200 just for my
MS wireless 5 button intellimouse explorer (chewer of batteries)
I knew I was getting ripped off, didnt have a credit card back then - was forced to buy locally.

Have not had any problems with online shopping so-far, Loving it.
Although I just started with ebay, so that may change ;)

I pretty much buy hardware from one place. http://www.msy.com.au. Their web site is the most basic thing I have ever seen. Just a link to a few price lsits essentially. These dudes are very cheap, you can walk into the store and they do mail order.

There is a good mob in Perth with a great rep called Nintek. Get involved in the bulk buying forums for a great deal on new gear. Some gamer friend sof mine buy this way regularly. Nindeals

Shopbot is a great guide to the lowest prices Australia wide.
Stick with 1 or 2 Suppliers. The top 5 will probably figure in anything you want to purchase. Pareto's Law. :D

You may lose on the swings but gain on the roundabouts.

A good idea is to get a separate credit / debit card for a very low amount like $200-$500 so you can't get ripped off to a huge amount from your main debit / credit card.
I have one with a $500 dollar limit.

I doubt if eBay is much cheaper than the cheaper Suppliers listed by ShopBot.

Safer to buy direct from Suppliers than from anonymous buyers on eBay, IMO.
You can always Google for comments on Suppliers, as well as check the ratings on vendors on eBay to make the safest choice. Bazza

PS: Re Batteries. My mouse has an On/Off switch. For better battery life use your mouse on a white background. I have mine on a white sheet of A4 paper, folded over my mousepad. If you have no On /Off switch, simple unload your batteries each time you logoff. A small PITA but will save battery life. Also use re-chargeable batteries, usually AA size. I haven't had my combo long enough to check battery life yet. Keyboard runs on 4 x AA's (Duracell supplied) and the mouse on 2 x AA's (Duracell supplied). ;)

It's always a trade off when you buy online. I generally stick with one or two and those at the moment are Scorptech and Mwave. The most important thing that i look for when dealing with online sites is customer service.

    As for http://www.msy.com.au
To tell the truth, i took one look at that site, and immediately closed the window. It doesn't look professional and I am not going to give my credit card details to a business that can't even take a little bit of pride in their online site. It's doesn't have to be the best site in the world, but the least they could do is use some stylesheets and proper HTML layout and formatting. It doesn't even render correctly in Firefox.

I don't mind that a place might charge slightly more, because i know that i'm paying for the ease of use of the site, the customer service and the general positive experience i get from some places. And if it costs $10 extra on a $400 video card, then so be it.

How many hours is 2 days use? How long for each session? As I mentioned, mine is too new to guage battery life, so far. Bazza

Some comparisons I have just done using www.shopbot.com.au

Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3200 Laser, Prices range from $99 to $150

4gb Sandisk Cruzer Titanium USB stick, $85 to $150

    D-Link DSL-G604T Wireless ADSL Router, $95 to $169

    D-Link DWL-G650 Cardbus Adapter, $55 to $91

Substantial savings to at least investigate further, or give you bargaining power.:D

Finally have signed up for broadband.:cool

The mob I had signed up for in August finally went into Chapter 11 (I think they call it in the USA), or voluntary bankruptcy (here in OZ).

This stirred me up after waiting 8 months for the above firm to get launched here in Cairns.

I found another great ADSL2+ plan. Hope they come to the party.;)

The point of my post is that even if I buy the exact same hardware (make and model), as I priced locally, I will save over AUD$ 83 for a modem /router and PC card combo. (AUD$233 versus AUD$150) by using www.shopbot.com.au

I don't mind supporting local stores but these prices were from a nationalwide chain of stores so I think we in Cairns are being ripped off.
    That AUD$233 even included a 10% discount.:D

    So stuff them.:p
I will research more thoroughly for pricey items using shopbot, and can bargain harder if I elect to buy locally. Bazza

Thanks to www.shopbot.com.au and a bit of research with the manufacturer, I have now saved another AUD$51. I don't need a PC card, just a router.:cool
ADSL2+ support is built into my laptop (which I thought) but needed confirmation. :)

Ordered a Dynalink Wirelss Modem Router RTA 1025W yesterday for my forthcomimg connection to Broadband.:) ;) :D :cool :major

This router came out on top in the APC, April 2007 edition, test of 20 x ADSL2+ modems megatest.

Couldn't even get a price in 6 shops I rang in Cairns. No-one even stocked Dynalink (now bought out by Netcomm).

Using shopbot.com.au for comparison pricing, I rang many stores in other states. It appears that stocks really move fast and most had no stock, but waiting on deliveries.

Prices ranged from AUD$113.99 :) to AUD$218.90 (would you believe it !!).:(
    Almost double !! :p

I finally found 1 in stock at AUD$132, including shipping by Australian Air Express and GST tax included.

I expect delivery today hopefully as the firm I bought it from appear to be on the ball.

3 emails from them, 1 to confirm the order, 1 to confirm that my order had been attended to and the last to give consignment details. Great service, IMO.

    I picked up a Varta 15 minute charger Type 57255 for 2 x AAA's, or 2 x AA's ( and with 2 x AA's supplied). Works like a charm. ;)
There is a much dearer model that charges 4 at a time.
Don't know if this brand is available in the UK, though. confused Bazza

I've had some unusual happenings since loading the setup for my Dynalink Router.
Don't know if this is co-incidence.confused

I use AOL which is a skin over IE6. Have always used it.
Very rarely use IE6 on its' owm.
Let us know if you manage to pick up the Varta stuff in the UK. Bazza
