Auto Play

I have two drives, a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105 drive and a separate generic cd-rw drive. My computer has an intel chip based. I am using XP professional. Something caused the auto play to stop working on both drives. I tried restoring defaults by right clicking the drive leter, and going into properties-no fix. Is this a drive issue or an operating issue or a hardware issue. Drivers -are suppose to be in XP, no install needed. Hardware- why would both drives auto play stop? Operating system issue? Or, did some software I installed cause this? HOW CAN I GET AUTO PLAY TO WORK AGAIN?

did you make sure to select all of the options in the dropdown menu in the properties menu of your drives? you have to select autoplay for all of the different files (examples: music files, picture files, video files, etc.)

 

Try going to the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun

and check what it is. Change it to 91 (in Hexadecimal) or 145 (in Decimal).

 

how do I get to the registry keys?

 

I checked this through regedit and these are the correct settings? Any other ideas or suggestions?
